The Big Printer was founded in 2005 by digital artist, Daniel Eskridge
who recognized that other fine art printing sites on the web were mostly
aimed at traditional artists and were really just extensions to brick
and mortar print shops whose experience was with physical 2D art, i.e.
paintings, hard photographs, drawings, etc. Those sites lacked the
expertise to provide digital artists with a simple, easy-to-use, hassle free
interface for printing digital art. The result was the creation of The Big Printer.
The goal of The Big Printer is to cater exclusively to digital artists.
The process of printing a large format image is greatly simplified. Customers
simply upload their image then specify the dimensions, paper, and quantity.
Customers are not forced into time consuming email exchanges or aggravating
phone calls. Nor are they forced to order packages of prints when they only
want one.
At the core of The Big Printer is...well...the big printer: an Epson Stylus
Pro 7500 Wide Format Printer. It prints a maximum width of 24" and, since it
uses paper rolls as a source, can print a length up to 1200" on paper and 300" on canvas!
